Common Core and the Arts – The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are a state-led initiative to ensure that students leave school with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in college and in their careers. The resulting changes to the expectations of arts educators can be profound. AEP is providing this (ever-growing) selection of resources to help AEP Partner Organizations, arts educators, school leaders, and policymakers develop a better understanding of the Common Core and what the movement means for the arts.

American Alliance for Theatre & Education – The American Alliance for Theatre & Education connects and inspires a growing collective of theatre artists, educators, and scholars committed to transforming young people and communities through the theatre arts.

Educational Theatre Association – Shaping lives through theater education

Americans for the Arts – Arts Education Network – Learning and participation in music, dance, theater, and the visual arts are vital to the development of our children and our communities. Through advocacy, research, partnerships, and professional development, Americans for the Arts strives to provide and secure more resources and support for arts education through the Arts Education Network.

Creative Drama Classroom – Most of these lesson plans work with a large age range (with appropriate adjustments in level of sophistication).  These lessons are presented with fairly specific instructions, for the most part, but should not be understood as carved-in-stone methods.  Every teacher will have her or his individual slant on these activities.
